Troika Amano is a contemporary artist working primarily in video, photography, and novels. Drawing on his own experiences with bullying and bipolar disorder, he explores the theme of psychic wounds and the liminal spaces that emerge from them — the borderlands between normal and abnormal, perpetrator and victim, the everyday and the extraordinary, dream and reality. Moving between the visible and the hidden, he creates work that exposes elements bound up with personal dignity and desire — work that functions at once as therapy, as prayer, and, at times, as curse.
